Glenn and Linda Inglis are missionaries with the Presbyterian Church in Malawi, 1980 to 1985; 1996 to 2003; 2007 to current. Linda Inglis is a member of the St. Paul's Church family. Linda's parents were the late Douglas and Grace Hammond. Therefore, St. Paul's has a special interest in Malawi. Special funds have been raised to buy bicycles so that ministers could travel from Church to Church in the rural areas of Malawi for worship and visitation. St Paul's' men for Missions group has financially aided the building of two new houses. This greatly aided Mrs. Amayi Nkhlumba - whose husband died of AIDS. Also a woman named Mary, who had no house, was given a house that had much greater space so she could work with her family.
In 1982 Presbyterian missionaries working in the Blantyre area (which is very poor) with many children and young people who had physical and mental handicaps. A special ministury was started for these "special needs" persons.
Every Tuesday afternoon these children and young people meet in a church hall. They sing praise songs, do crafts, play games and enjoy each other's company. Their crafts help fund club projects. This club also provides wheel chairs, leg braces and essential items, as well as funds for taxi rides to the doctor or to the hospital. Club funds also provide money for some needy families, wherever there is extra money. This special club is not funded by the Church of Central Africa - Presbyterian, nor by the Malawi government. Hence this club totally relies on outside donations. St Paul's Church has been supporting the N'Dirandi Club by sending donations and Christmas gifts.
As noted earlier, a member of St. Paul's Family Linda Inglis was one of the funding members of this essential ministry. At the Last Judgment, the King (God) will say, " I tell you, whenever you did this for one of the least important of these brothers and sister of mine, you did it for me!" (Matthew 2 5:4) - Jesus.
St. Paul's Church begins this project in the spring of 2002. In recent years Mr. Tom Kritsch very graciously donated 22 acres of land along Grey Road 33 leading into Clarksburg. The Land was worked and seeded to spring wheat. Donated tractors, discs, seeddrill and harrows did the land preparation and sowing. The Sunday school children even broad cast seeds by hand over ½ acre, just as it was done in Jesus' time. The first year, old fashioned harvesting methods were used, using the grain binder and the threshing machine. Later, a Harvest Dinner for the community is held.Over the years, we have planted wheat, soybeans and corn. We currently farm about 30 acres south of Ravenna.
In 2008, we sent over $10,000.00 to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank. The Government of Canada matches these fund by four times. (CIDA). That meant that we sent over $50,000.00 in conjunction with Presbyterian World Service and Development. (PWS&D) to famine relief in Livingstones, Malawi. This amount of these Canadian funds purchased over k 5,000,000.00 (Kwatcha in Malawi currency). A 100 kg bag of fortified maize costs k 1,000.00 and feeds 10/12 people for one month. In 2008 over 5,000 bags of maize was purchased and between 50,000 and 60,000 people were fed for one month!
